Here are my three photos that were picked to be featured in the Annual Academy of Art's Spring Show. I'm very excited about this cause only about 10% of the work picked for the annual show is undergrad work. It is usually mostly just 3rd and 4th year students work with some 2nd year thrown in.

It's been sometime since I've posted anything at all. I apologize for being missing in action. This semester of school has proven to be much more difficult, busy, stressful, but yet more rewarding. I'll briefly update you on what's been happening. As far as personal things go I haven't done much, hahaha. I did have quite an interesting spring break that turned out to be not what I expected but fun nonetheless. Katie and I flew to florida and took a cruise to the bahamas all for free, yes sir for free. I don't advise taking a cruise, they aren't all they are cracked up to be and neither is the bahamas. On another personal note I've been doing lots of charity work with a couple of the clubs I've joined out here. We just worked a fashion show for St. Vincent de Paul. It's been a nice change of pace from the constant onslaught of homework. I've also been doing a little tutoring for some friends of mine in a couple of my classes, photography and interactive design. Everything else I've done since my last post has been completely school related. It's finals currently and things are ramping up to be a crazy next couple o weeks. I also just found out that 3 pieces of my photography was selected for our coveted and exclusive Spring Show! I am looking forward to the last week in May for several reasons. The first is that finals will be over. The second is that Joe and I are taking another cross country trip to come home for the summer. I am really looking forward to this. It'll be great to show Joe my favorite city, Chicago, and to see everyone in Maryland again. It has been awhile since i've been back that way or since anyone from there has come to visit me. I also have been working on a couple new books that I'll be finish in June and entering into the next Blurb contest in July. I also have several photos that I'll be entering into the National Geographic contest coming up in July as well. It's shaping up to be a very exhausting, exciting and entertaining year. Look for much more coming in real time from the road trip. You can find it here, facebook, twitter or on my tumblr. I'll leave you with a small sample of photos, spring show entries, and some school work.

Art stuff

Here's a few things I've been working on in my interactive design class. We redesigned the netflix page for our first project. It's actually all put together in a single pdf file. It allows you to actually click the links and have it take you to the pages just as you would on the net. However, these are just screenshots of the actual pages themselves since blogger doesn't support that format.

Our midterm project is to create a business that was in need of expanding to the internet. We had to write up a business proposal and put our logo design on it as well. We all assumed that we would then be designing the webpage for our business. However once we finished our proposal and turned it in my teacher pulled a surprise on us all.

We actually paired up with another student in class and they would be doing our webpage and vice versa. A tricky move but interesting nonetheless to have an actual client we are designing for as a midterm project. I got an art gallery called A LOOK. Here's our latest assignment. A cover flow page showing the client how the webpage will look, feel, and be laid out. I also redesigned the logo as well

Snowboardfest 1 0000HHHHH at Lake Tahoe

Well this was an amazing/exhausting weekend. Not only did it kick off with the Achenbach trip but right after that was over me and my roomie drove up to Lake Tahoe for a little snowboarding action. However, the trip turned out not to be as easy at it sounded. It only takes 3 and 1/2 hours to get to Lake Tahoe from San Francisco. Not this trip of course. We were driving into a blizzard but we thought we'd beat it there and we almost did. At around 11pm we were only a half hour away from our destination when we encountered hella traffic. Turns out Cal Transit Authority had blocked off the interstate and were only letting 4x4 drive with snow tires or chains through. Lame right, almost beat the storm there. So did we turn around and go home you ask. It's me of course not. We drove back down towards Sacramento and took route 50 that I knew about from the previous road trip a year ago over into Nevada. Stopped at a gas station right on the border of the two states and finally got lucky finding some snow chains. We drove up the south east side of the lake which was open to those with just snow chains or 4x4 drive and made it finally to our hotel at 7:30 AM. Yes that's right 12 hours of insanely beautiful night blizzard driving but we made it. Sorry no pics of the blizzard. It was to dark, windy, and wild with snow to get anything. Trust me though it was a very slow paced but stunning experience. Especially since my roomie David had not ever seen snow or been boarding, he was ecstatic. It was great boarding too since it was 14-18 inches of fresh powder that fell we were on. Not to mention the full moon hours of night boarding we did as well. Just an amazing experience for the books. Here are some pics of the day we were leaving and from my phone the day we shredded the slopes. Lake Tahoe is in my top 10 most breathtaking places I've been in the United States. Coming from me thats pretty serious.

I also used several of these from the next set for my photography project showing our knowledge of aperture and shutter speed. Which is why several have varying depths of field or show movement in the water.
